Sullivan County Worksite Wellness

The 2020 Worksite Wellness Summit has been put on-hold due to COVID-19, but all partnering agencies and organizations are working diligently to recognize the hard work that Sullivan County Wellness Committees have been doing throughout this past year.

SULLIVAN 180 and partner organizations, Garnet Health (formerly Catskill Regional Medical Center), Sullivan Renaissance, Sullivan County Public Health Services, Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County, Eat Smart NY of the Hudson Valley Region, the American Heart Association, HealtheConnections, and the Tobacco Free Action Communities launched a county wide Worksite Wellness campaign in April, 2017.

Worksite Wellness 2017 Awards Ceremony

Since 2017, local businesses, schools, houses of worship and nonprofit organizations have sent representatives to train as Wellness Coordinators and have established Worksite Wellness Committees. These area businesses and organizations have committed to adopting a variety of wellness initiatives such as;

  • Starting an employee wellness committee
  • Adopting healthy vending standards for foods and beverages sold in vending machines and cafeterias
  • Becoming a water-friendly worksite
  • Encouraging exercise and fitness breaks throughout the day
  • Offering training on stress reduction, mental health and substance use disorder
  • Becoming a tobacco-free worksite & offering smoking cessation
  • Developing gardens and walking trails with Sullivan Renaissance & Starting walking clubs with Sullivan 180

In 2019, several participating organizations were recognized for their Worksite Wellness Programs at the annual Worksite Wellness Summit including Platinum-level winners: Fallsburg Central School District, Jeff Bank, Monticello Central School District, Sullivan County BOCES, and Town of Mamakating (see full list of winners to the right).
