Coping With Stress

Stress– We’ve all felt it. Sometimes stress can be a positive force, motivating you to perform well at your piano recital or job interview. But often, like when you’re stuck in traffic — it’s a negative force. If you experience stress over a prolonged period of time, it could become chronic — unless you take action.

The American Heart Association offers these common sense tips for Coping with Stress.

-Take care of yourself
-Eat healthy, well balanced meals
-Talk about it with a friend, parent, counselor, or doctor
-Join a circle or form your own!
-Take a break!

Six myths about stress

Myth 1:  Stress is the same for everybody.
Completely wrong. Stress is different for each of us. What is stressful for one person may or may not be stressful for another; each of us responds to stress in an entirely different way.
