Sullivan County Schools Compete for $75,000 Award

[LIBERTY] – Sullivan 180 announced the Empowering a Healthier Generation Competition Phase and additional grant funding for participating school buildings. During the 2022-2023 school year, five school buildings were awarded Healthier Generation Competition Grants in the amount of $5,000 each; and are competing for Healthier Generation Awards in the amount of $75,000 and $50,000 that will be presented in the fall of 2023.

Participants in the Empowering a Healthier Generation Competition include: Benjamin Cosor Elementary, Fallsburg; Livingston Manor Elementary; Livingston Manor High School; Cooke Elementary, Monticello; Sullivan West Elementary

“The competition phase has enabled schools to elevate their health and wellness initiatives and gain greater school community support.” said Meaghan Mullally-Gorr, Director of Health & Wellness. “Healthier Generation Committees made up of diverse voices including staff, students, families, and administration, are working together to implement health initiatives that continue to grow a culture of wellness and empower the next generation.”

Empowering a Healthier Generation engages Sullivan County School Districts in promoting health and wellness among students, staff, parents, and their communities to create a grassroots movement that will change policy and environments; while demonstrating that individuals and families have an important role to play in building a culture of health for themselves and the next generation.
