Sullivan 180 Supports Families and Promotes Wellness with Sixth Annual Peace, Love & Lights Walk Thru

[LIBERTY, NY] Sullivan 180 invited the community to step out of their cars and walk through the dazzling lights at Bethel Woods for the sixth annual Peace, Love & Lights’ Walk-Thru Mondays. Guests were encouraged to explore the drive-through light installation up close while supporting great causes in our community.

This year’s campaign continued its focus on promoting physical activity during the winter months while also benefiting the Sullivan County Federation for the Homeless and other local organizations. Walkers who brought a new, unwrapped toy or non-perishable food item were given free admission, helping spread holiday cheer to families in need.

“The holidays can be a financially and emotionally challenging time for families already struggling to make ends meet,” said Kathy Kreiter, Director of the Sullivan County Federation for the Homeless. “The support provided by Sullivan 180 and the community lets them know that people really do care.”

To enhance the experience, four themed nights, including School Spirit, First Responders, Healthcare Workers, and Holiday Spirit Nights, added extra fun and excitement. The events brought over 990 community members out to walk who donated more than 480 gifts and over 180 non-perishable food and hygiene items. The toys have been wrapped and delivered in time for Christmas. Other items collected will be donated to local organizations.

Additionally, Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, the Finance Team at Granite Associates, Liberty Rotary and Mullally Tractor Sales of Jeffersonville each committed financial support for up to 600 walkers, further leveraging the impact of the event.

“We are incredibly grateful for our partnership with Bethel Woods and the overwhelming support from our community,” said Kellee Thelman, Sullivan 180 Marketing & Events Manager. “Together, we've created an event that unites the community, encourages a healthy activity, and provides support to those in need during the holiday season.”
