Sullivan 180 to Host Virtual Seminar on Creating & Improving Public Spaces
Planning and zoning board training credits offered
[LIBERTY, NY] Sullivan 180 will host “Creating Great Public Spaces” on Wednesday, December 6th at 6 PM via Zoom. Municipal planning and zoning board members will receive 1 training credit hour for attending.
Shannon Cilento, Sullivan 180 Director of Community Development and Communications, will lead a virtual presentation on the power of placemaking; exploring how thoughtful design of public spaces can strengthen community health, connection, and pride. Participants will learn how to evaluate public spaces, discuss what makes them successful, and discover how these principles can be incorporated into project reviews and the comprehensive planning process.
“Planning, zoning, and town board members have a unique opportunity to shape the quality of life in their communities,” said Cilento. “By prioritizing great public spaces that are active, inclusive, and well-loved, municipal leaders can help build healthier, more vibrant communities for all.”
This session will be especially relevant to planning and zoning board members, town and village officials, and parks and recreation professionals interested in creating welcoming, engaging places that serve a community asset and bring people together.
