Sullivan O&W Rail Trail Alliance Announces 4th Annual BowWO&W
Celebrate the dog days of summer with a community dog walk
[SOUTH FALLSBURG] - Come out and celebrate the dog days of summer at the 4th annual BowWO&W Dog Walk on Thursday, August 21st from 5:30 to 7:30 PM on the 1.1-mile Tunnel Bypass segment of the Sullivan O&W Rail Trail. Meet at the trailhead next to the Dogpatch Town Park located at 14 Old Country Road in South Fallsburg.
“The Town of Fallsburg is thrilled to again host of this year’s BowWO&W Dog Walk starting at Dogpatch Town Park. Town staff from the Highway Department and Parks Department worked very hard to create this trail last year, and they did a phenomenal job,” stated Town Supervisor Michael Bensimon. “This segment of trail will eventually connect to a planned pedestrian bridge and boardwalk over the Neversink River where the old train trestle used to be, and our hope is that it becomes a regional tourist destination like the Walkway over the Hudson. We are extremely grateful to everyone that has contributed their time and effort into this successful project.”
“The BowWO&W is an excellent opportunity to explore this newer section of the Sullivan O&W Rail Trail, meet other trail users and get you, your dog and your family out for a summer evening walk,” says Shannon Cilento of Sullivan 180, a member of the Sullivan O&W Rail Trail Alliance. “Be advised that this new trail is not flat like the rest of the O&W Rail Trail, so be prepared to tackle some mild hills and moderately steep grades.”
Even if you don’t plan to hike the trail, everyone is encouraged to bring their dog and enjoy the dog park. Dog-related vendors and organizations will also be tabling at the park.
