Join the Movement: Step into Wellness
A walking challenge to get moving, make connections and build a healthy community
[LIBERTY, NY] – Sullivan 180 is inviting businesses, organizations, schools, municipalities, community groups, families and friends to Join the Movement: Step into Wellness, a countywide walking challenge taking place throughout National Wellness Month, Aug. 1-31.
Designed to make healthy routines simple and accessible, Step into Wellness encourages teams of two or more people to walk together at least once a week throughout August.
Step into Wellness builds on Sullivan 180's commitment to building healthier communities by degrees; and by making it easier for people to connect through a simple, everyday activity. Participants are encouraged to explore local parks, trails, neighborhoods and public spaces while making movement part of their weekly routine and sharing photos and stories from their walks. Walk Together. Build Connections. Create Healthy Routines.
"Step into Wellness is an invitation to walk with coworkers, neighbors, friends or family and discover that improving health doesn't have to be complicated. Sometimes it begins with taking a walk." said Anne-Louise Scandariato, Director of Community Engagement. “Rather than focusing on competition, the challenge celebrates participation, consistency and community connection. There are no required steps or miles; allowing teams to participate in a way that works best for them.”
Registration opens July 22 and will remain open throughout August. Teams may represent businesses, nonprofits, schools, healthcare organizations, municipalities, emergency services, libraries, civic groups, families, friends or any group of at least two individuals. To register or learn more, visit Sullivan180.org. Participating teams will be recognized during Sullivan 180's Autumn Celebration on Sept. 23 at Bethel Woods.
