Sullivan 180 Launches Speaker Series
Community Conversations Explore Health Through Nutrition, Kindness, and Community Connection
[LIBERTY, NY] – Sullivan 180 has announced its inaugural Speaker Series, featuring nationally recognized speakers to inspire, spark meaningful conversations, and strengthen our collective work to build a healthier community. Through presentations for schools, community organizations, leaders and residents, the Speaker Series will explore issues related to lifelong health, well-being and stronger communities.
On August 20th, An Evening with Chef Ann Cooper: “The Renegade Lunch Lady” will kick off the series with an interactive community conversation around the importance of healthy school meals through scratch cooking; and how this can shape lifelong healthy habits. Parents, educators, school leaders and community members are encouraged to attend and learn more about the opportunity to shape lifelong health through school food.
On September 23rd, Sullivan 180 will host its Autumn Celebration featuring bestselling author Julia Hotz who will share the concept of social prescribing and how meaningful connections to people, nature, movement and the arts can improve overall health and well-being. Her message reflects Sullivan 180’s mission of building a healthy community through people, places and policy through connection and collaboration.
The Speaker Series concludes on November 6th, with a professional development program led by Brian Williams, founder of Think Kindness. Designed for educators and school staff, the program will focus on building positive school culture, strengthening relationships, and fostering kindness and leadership among students and staff.
“The Sullivan 180 Speaker Series brings nationally recognized voices to our community to spark meaningful conversations and inspire action,” said Denise Frangipane, CEO of Sullivan 180. “The series is built on the principle that everyone has a role to play in changing the health outcomes of Sullivan County.”
