Five Sullivan County schools participating in the Sullivan 180 Empowering a Healthier Generation competition are preparing to host a panel of judges and show off their efforts to promote health and wellness for the students and community of their school building.

The Sullivan 180 Healthiest Fire Department will conclude on September 1; with winners being announced at the 94th Annual Sullivan County Volunteer Fireman’s Parade on Saturday, September 9, hosted by the Roscoe/Rockland Fire Company.

The Third annual International Overdose Awareness Day Vigil will be held on August 31st at 7 pm on the lawn of the Sullivan County Courthouse 414 Broadway, Monticello.

Sullivan 180 is pleased to announce its partnership with the Catskill Hospitality Institute to offer a brand new course at SUNY Sullivan during the Fall 2023 semester

Sullivan 180 is elated to announce its successful selection as the recipient of a $100,000 2023 USDA Farm to School Implementation Grant. Over the course of 24 months, the grant will fuel a series of transformative activities, all aimed at enhancing community health and well-being.

On July 19th, Sullivan 180, in partnership with MISN (Maternal Infant Services Network), hosted a Sullivan Basics train-the-trainer program for individuals interested in positively impacting the growth and development of our youngest Sullivan County residents, infants and toddlers.

Come out and celebrate the dog days of summer at the 2nd annual Bow WO&W Dog Walk on Thursday, August 10th from 5:30 to 7:30 PM on the Liberty segment of the Sullivan O&W Rail Trail, meeting at the Bridge and Tunnel Brewery, 50 Lake Street, Liberty. Bring your leashed dog and the whole family for a walk.

Join Sullivan 180 on Wednesday, August 2 at 6pm for a return trip and interpretive historical walk of the Bindy Bazaar Trail. This trail, located at the site of the 1969 Woodstock Festival, is being restored by the Museum at Bethel Woods.

The 2023 Sullivan 180 scholarship application is now available. The scholarship program recognizes volunteer efforts in projects that support the Sullivan 180 mission to build a healthy community through people, places, and policy; with an intentional focus on prevention and empowering a healthier generation.

In an effort to promote prevention programming and engage community volunteers, Sullivan 180 will host two upcoming train-the-trainer opportunities for individuals interested in positively impacting health in Sullivan County.

World No Tobacco Day, sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO), is held annually on May 31st and brings together people around the world to stand up against big tobacco. 

The 2023 class of Sullivan 180 Interns have begun their work to care for gardens and other public spaces in communities throughout Sullivan County. From small planters and established gardens, to park enhancements and beautifying Main Streets, interns are working with community volunteers to make a difference in their neighborhoods.

Sullivan 180 is pleased to announce the 2023 Municipal Partnership Program Grant recipients. The Municipal Partnership Program offers grants up to $20,000 to local governments to care for public spaces, create youth initiatives, build healthy communities or engage in historic preservation and environmental stewardship.

The Sullivan 180 Empowering a Healthier Generation program is a school-based effort to promote health and wellness among students, staff, parents and the school community. The idea is to create a grassroots movement that will change policy and environments.

Sullivan 180 is pleased to announce the 2023 Beautification Program grant recipients. The Sullivan 180 Beautification Program offers grants up to $2,500 for school beautification and care of public spaces, gardens, building landscaping and park creation.

Sullivan 180 announced the Empowering a Healthier Generation Competition Phase and additional grant funding for participating school buildings.

Volunteering is a way to help others; and a great way to improve your own health. It allows you to meet new people, stay active and reduce stress— all of which are key to maintaining your mental, emotional and physical well-being.

Sullivan 180 is now offering Youth Mental Health First Aid Trainings to individuals over the age of 18. Training is available by request in the community and in schools. The next training opportunity is May 19th at Sullivan BOCES.
